Trovatori Acoustic Opera Duo
Saturday 20th May at 7.30
Trovatori are tenor and soprano duo Darren and Caroline Clarke, modern-day troubadours who provide their own accompaniment on classical guitars. This husband and wife team met while performing at the Bregenz Festival and have since shared their passion for singing, travelling and discovery by exploring the musical world for some of the best known and loved songs from opera, operetta, art songs, traditional songs, folk and ballads.
Trovatori's talents have taken them all over the world, performing both on land and sea. In the UK they appear in concert halls, theatres and music festivals as well as at corporate and private events. Between them they have performed in numerous venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, and live in concert on BBC Radio 3.
Darren and Caroline continue to pursue their individual careers alongside the duo. Darren has sung in opera houses and theatres internationally, recently performing in King Lear at the Grange Festival, sharing the stage with Sir John Tomlinson, Sir Thomas Allen, Kim Begley, Susan Bullock and Emma Bell. Caroline’s operatic roles have included the title role of Tosca for Heritage Opera, Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte) for Opera UK, Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte) for British Youth Opera and Adina (L’elisir d’amore) for Vox Lirika. An accomplished session singer, Caroline has worked with the BBC Singers, RSVP Voices and London Voices and been a soloist for many choirs and orchestras, performing works including Brahms’ Requiem, Haydn’s Creation, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, Schubert’s Magnificat, Poulenc’s Gloria and Mahler’s Symphony No.4.
